Will – Service Technician
I have 5 1/2 years in the plumbing trade, including 4 years of commercial, remodel, and new construction experience. I grew up in Olathe, KS, and that hometown connection is part of why I love serving this community.
My favorite kind of plumbing is rough-in work, like running water lines for new projects. It takes a lot of pre-planning to get it right and make things easier for the next tradesperson on the job, and it’s where I have the most experience, so it feels good to do something I’m skilled at. In general, I love getting to use critical thinking and problem-solve all day. Every day as a plumber looks different, and I get to be outside a lot instead of stuck in an office.
Finding the source of a hidden leak is the most satisfying problem I get to solve. When someone has no idea where a leak is coming from, I use a process of elimination to pinpoint the issue. Even if I can’t fix it right away, just knowing where it’s coming from is more than half the battle, it tells us where to go next and what options are available. Interestingly, about half of all hidden leaks have nothing to do with plumbing at all, but I can still help point customers toward a solution.
What I enjoy most about working for Andy’s Pipe Dream is that, as a small company, I get more autonomy and freedom. I get to run my own jobs, decide how things get done, and I have easy access to the owners to share my input on decisions.
I’m good at explaining how things work and breaking down complex information so anyone can understand it. Customers often tell me they appreciate how clearly I explain what I’m doing. I see myself as a bit of a teacher, giving customers the information they need to make their own educated decisions, and I’m always ready to answer any question.
In my spare time, I enjoy bird watching, searching for common and rare birds in the area and being part of the birding community, along with camping.
