Victor – Service Technician

Victor was introduced to plumbing during his 8 years as a Certified Pool and Spa Operator, having worked with Andy’s Pipe Dream on several projects, the transition was a no-brainer. Victor has a passion for helping people, and plumbing is one of the many ways he gets to do that.

The first thing Victor does when he gets to a job, is connect with the customer. That connection, combined with a very thorough inspection of your plumbing system, gives Victor the full picture of how to best meet your needs. He will also do his best to find solutions that fit your budget.

Victor prides himself on his customer service and his willingness to go above and beyond for his customers. He is always eager to learn more and build on his knowledge to give customers the best service possible.

On his off time, Victor loves to spend time with his wife and 2 daughters and play music. You’ll find him singing with his church, gigging around town, or even breaking into song while plumbing.

Questions and Answers

What licensing, certifications or special training do you have?

  • CPO (certified pool operator) license. City inspectors require this license to work on commercial pools.
  • He is sort of our go to trainer. He has been training people for most of his career and really enjoys it. He likes teaching apprentices, but he also enjoys educating customers about their own plumbing. In another life he would have been a music teacher.

How long have you been in the plumbing trade?

He has been doing plumbing at APD for 5 years. Prior to that he was building pools for 10 years. While not an official plumber at the time, he did set up the plumbing for pools, educated customers, and balanced the chemicals which was a nice foundation to then build on top of when learning the plumbing trade.

Where did you grow up?

  • Overland Park, Johnson County. Lived in Lawerence for a few years when he was in his early 20’s.
  • He now resides in Bonner Springs

What type of plumbing work do you enjoy most?

His favorite type of plumbing to work on is gas lines, especially black iron. It is enjoyable to use a threader to make customized pieces for customers. It is cathartic.

He gets to feel manly and powerful using such heavy duty machinery.

What kind of job or problem do you find most satisfying to solve?

Finding hidden leaks is very satisfying. Essentially being a detective – asking questions, exploring options, and finding the source.

What do you enjoy most about working for Andy's Pipe Dream? / What is your favorite thing about working for Andy's Pipe Dream?

He enjoys getting to have a personal relationship with the owner. It feels like family, but in a professional way. The pay is fantastic. He knows and enjoys all his coworkers. Essentially, he doesn’t feel like a number in a system but instead a meaningful part of the business.

What professional strengths do you bring to your customers and teammates?

He loves helping people. Helping customers of course, but even just being a helping hand to his coworkers. It is rewarding to help customers with issues in their homes, or even just help them with an upgrade they’ve always wanted. “I would do it for free if bills didn’t exist”. It feels good to take someone else’s problems away.

Do you have any hobbies or interests you enjoy in your spare time that you would be comfortable sharing?

  • Long board.
  • One wheel
  • Guitar and singing in the church and also a band.
  • Video games
  • Spending times with family and his children
  • Most often when he goes to a customer’s house he ends up talking about games and musical instruments

Is there anything else you would like customers to know about you professionally or about plumbing as a profession?

He wishes people knew that most plumbers are honest and want to solve the problem, not take advantage of anyone. He wants to propose cost effective solutions to customers problems.
